About Us

First Swing Rhode Island is designed to instruct therapists and enourage the physically challenged to learn, or to relearn, the game of golf. Not only because just about every physically challenged individual, regardless of age, is able to play, but also because it contributes dramatically to the individuals emotional and physical well being, instilling self confidence and pride in personal achievement. This programs also enables the individual to enjoy the unique, friendly atmosphere found on the golf course.

The First Day of First Swing Rhode Island (First Swing Seminar) is the intructional portion to teach the basics of golf to rehabilitation, PGA and recreational professionals working with adaptive golf equipment. These Professionals will be presented with singular differences physically challenged individuals face while learning to swing a golf club i.e. while seated, balance impaired, sight impaired, extremity weakness, etc.

Professionals also have the opportunity to earn up to 10 contact hours or CEUs The second day of First Swing Rhode Island (Learn to Golf Clinic), is devoted to physically challenged individuals who will enjoy learning or relearning how to swing a golf club utilizing an adaptive golf cart for seated individuals (parapelgics, amputees, cerebral palsy, etc.) and/or adaptive golf clubs and equipment. They will receive "one on one" instruction working with newly trained rehabilitation, PGA and recreational professionals under the expertise of First Swing RI instructors.
